Battle 4, Turn 4
Soviets - Engineer-Sapper supported by Assault Guns vs. Ross' SS-Infantry
supported by Grenidiers
The Flemish SS division assigned to hold off the Russian's advance, as the German forces
regrouped for a large counter attack, were successful, Tthe Flemish reserves however were
tied up so it was up to the small outnumbered 4 to 1 Flemish SS to stand against the red
tide and they did so beyond the commander's expectations. Not only holding the Russians
long enough for the Germans to regroup before they broke through but destroying the entire
advancing army without letting a single man through !
Battle 3, Turn 4
Soviets - Penal Battalion supported by T-34/76s and Heavy Artillery vs.
Ross' SS-Infantry unsupported and out of Supply
The Flemish Wiking SS division launched a daring night attack (Cauldron) on the Advancing
Russian troops. Pushing through a poorly defended section and hunkering down in the middle
of the Russian artillery park. Dug in they waited for their reserves lead by Barkmann
(newley transfer to the Russian Front). The Russians held the field
waiting for their much needed reserves that showed up in time for the retreat to be called
leaving there heavy artillery behind to be destroyed by the Germans.
Battle 1, Turn 4
Americans - 101st Airborne supported by JS-2's and an Assault Gun Compnay
vs. Ross' SS-Infantry supported by Engineers
After a highly successful landing in Normandy Allied Command dropped the boys from Easy
and the rest of the 101st to assist the Soviets in thier push to borders of the Reich.
Fighting on the Outskirsts of Orsha they helped take the City that was defended by the SS.
It was rumorerd that Capt. Spiers was shoting prisoners again but that has been
unconfirmed since the Soviets shot all captured SS on sight.
Battle 4, Turn 3
Russians - Plain Vanilla Russian Infantry (Rich) supported by T34-85s and
SU-76Ms. Steve's Grenadier Company Conducting a River Assault!
The Germans attacked and the Soviets vowed to stop them at the River!
With enough Sappers I had a full mine field backed up my lots of Barbed-wire. I also had
two full lines of trenches because of all the infanty.
We stopped them before they got to the river! I must admit the sole
surviving German pioneer team did gap the mine field by himself.

Nice view of the fortifications

You can see the two trench lines and the dug in troops on the near side of the

Let them come!

We will stop them at the river!

Battle 3, Turn 3
Soviets - Self-propelled Artillery Regiment supported by T-34/85's and a
Heavy Artillery Compnay vs. Ross' SS-Infantry supported by Pathers,
Tigers and Bears, Oh My! (Break Through)
Ross put up a good fight but a 22 stand Engnieer Unit vs a 6 stand German Infantry platoon
in assault... you do the math. All I did was bide my time (keeping the Germans busy) until
that Engineer unit made it in on Delayed Reserves.
Interesting note... If Ross had rolled great on the last turn he would
have forced me to take a Company Morale check with no leader. But his Tigers missed my
Commander, his other guns also missed..... But he could have won if luck was with
him........
Battle 1, Turn 3
Soviets - Engineer-Sapper supported by Planes and JS-2s vs. Kevin's
German Strum Divison With Tiger support (Fighting Withdrawal)
Engineers and Lots of them!!! Attacking all the objectives at ones is not a great idea but
we kept the focus on the right flank where the tigers and JS-2 were. The Germans did not
notice that this was actually a feint and the real attack was with all infantry on our
left flank. Once the Engineers finished their leisurely walk they assaulted and won the
game. Good work Ross (my subcommander for the game.)
Battle 5, Turn 2
Soviets - Self-propelled Artillery Regiment supported by Engineers and a
Guards Heavy Tank Compnay vs. Steve's Grenadier Company (Break Through)
Damn 88s took out an entire Heavy Assault Gun Company on its own. A bogged IS-2 lost the
entire company in the woods. But the Soviets won... How? An Engineer-Sapper Company came
in as reserves and cleared the Objective! Both of them!!! A hard fought Soviet 4-3
Victory.
Battle 3, Turn 2
Soviets - Self-propelled Artillery Regiment supported by Engineers and a
Heavy Artillery Compnay vs. Steve's Grenadier Company (Fighting
Withdrawal)
The Soviets tried to crack the nut, know as Dobryna, again with not luck. The Gemans lost
4 units early in the game, including their Tiger. The Soviets however could not exploit
the gains they made in the middle of the battle field. One Company Commander (read platoon
commnad) died so the unit could not advance. Then the Regiment CiC was killed. The Heavy
JSU-152s keep getting bogged in the farmer's fields and could not carry through any of the
assaults.
Finally one objective was contested but the objective lost its
significants shortly there after (was removed). The Germans won by half a turn or one unit
depends how you count it but overall a great game ending with a German 4-3 Victory.
Battle 2, Turn 2
Soviets - Self-propelled Artillery Regiment supported with Air Power and T-34/85s vs.
German Strum Company supported by Tigers and Stugs
Open Terrain in a standard Encounter Scenario. The German Artillery took out the Soviet
commander in a JS-2 and the stage was set. The Veteran Tank Hunters took care of the
T-34/85s because the Engineers assaulting them ran a way. That Commander will be shot if
we ever catch him and his men.
The Germans paid a heavy price with most of their units reduced to 50% but
not enough to make them check. The Tiger finally arrived and shot up the first arriving
JSU-152s. These seem to have been defective as they were taking kills as if they were
T-34s!? (actually I was reading the stats from the wrong sheet). A Report has been send to
the Factory that they came from and the Chief of Production was send to a Penal Battalion.
The second Company of JSU-152s was hard to kill, obviously built at a differnt factory.
But it feel to the Tigers and reduced Artillery Battery. With no Commander the brave souls
of Mother Russia ran.... There is an on going full investigation and the Ranks of
the Penal Batallions are sure to swell.
The Pilots of the IL-2s were shot down and the Cadre of that Squadron was
sent to the rear for "Re-education". But on the bright side some of our sappers
must have damaged the Tigers as they too were seen being towed to the rear.
Battle 4, Turn 1
Soviets - Karen's Band of Brothers with T-34/85s and Shturmoviks in support vs. German
Assualt Guns in a defensive roll.
Para-troopers (Tank Assault 3), Bazookas (AT 10, Tank Assault 4) and Shturmoviks (AT 12)
not good for German armor. Throw in some woods so the armor is close assaulted and it's
game over. But a close and quick game.
Battle 3, Turn 1
Russians - Penal Battalion (Rich) vs. Steve's Grenadier
Company
Soviets attack the strategic village of Whobiteyourcockoff in Zholbin with a Heavy
Artillery Company and a Small company of T-34/85s. The German's surprisingly
abandoned the village and sat behind the river. Our infantry removed the barbed-wire and
mine fields with ease. Then our glorious infantry stormed across the anti-tank barriers as
if they were not there. The 152mm Guns made short work of the fascist bunkers.
Tuned out that the feint through the woods across the ford hit their
weakest spot. Which was exploited and reinforced with the T-34/85s. The Fascist CiC met
his miserable fate there. Due the Difficult and very Difficult Terrain the T-34/85s keep
bogging but caused the fascist dogs some worry as they sent in the arriving two platoons
of Panzers to confront them. Again the Heavy Guns laid them to waste. But the battle was
till in the balance until the sole remaining Tiger decided to pull away from objective to
go after some infantry in the open.
Our brave troops held the objective and destroyed the sixth out of ten
gangster platoons. Insuring us the VICTORY.
After the battle we rolled into Zholbin with the Firestrom troops used
along with assault guns and aircraft.
Battle 2 in Turn 1
Russians- Udarny Strelkovy (Allen) vs. Kevin German Strum
Divison.
Russaians attacked from Rechitsa into Berezina with Firetorm Troops- Hvy Tank (2 IS-2) and
Arty. (4 152 How).
The germans chose not to use the fortification. Instead boldly trying to distrub the
entire Russian Offensive by winning and seizing the Russian jump-off base.
Scenario: Encounter
Results: 6-1 victory for the Russians. Hard to stop a horde of Guard infantry when it can
get close without being shot up in the approach.
No need to roll for loss of Russian firetom troops.
The 2 firestorm troops move into Berezina, as well as an Engineer unit and the T-34/85
unit.
Fun game for both players.

Now the German Side of the Battle:
After Action Report from Sturmbannfuhrer W. K. Hecce, commandant
3.Sturmkompanie, II Battalion, 215 Regiment, 78. Sturmdivision.
The 3.Sturmkompanie met the Soviet advance into Berezina in an attempt to
not only stop the red tide but to throw them back beyond their starting point and advance
into Rechista and isolate Kalinkovichi province. It was not to be however.
While Feldwebel Dietrich Uthoff performed superbly, personally killing 2
T34 flame tanks and causing another to bail-out, it was a classic case of "too little
- too late." Faulty deployment and indecision on my part, as well as an utter lack of
timely reserves, caused an almost catastrophic defeat at the hands of A. Kaplan's Udarny
Strelkovy Battalion.
One bright spot was the lone German reserve to arrive on the field of
battle, a single Tiger I E, stopping the Russian IS2 platoon, killing 1 and causing the
other 2 to retreat. Unfortunately the Tiger rashly made a run for the objective and was
knocked out by the IS2s as the rallied and counter-attacked. The end came shortly after
that when I was forced to flee the field with a small remnant in order to save ourselves
to reorganize and fight another day.
One final sad post-script concerns the valiant Feldwebel Uthoff. He was
last seen charging into a hail of gunfire firing his assault riffle in an attempt to
contest the objective. His fate is still unknown.
